Ghost Mode deep work on iOS and Android
Ghost Mode is live in production on iOS and Android. One job: start a timed focus session with distracting apps blocked. Adaptive Sessions can recommend 20, 35, 50, or 90 minutes from the user’s patterns. A streak keeps the habit visible.

The problem
Most focus apps bury the start button under settings. People already know they should concentrate — they need the noisy apps gone and a timer running, without a lecture. No client organisation is named on this site.
What the product had to do
- Start a session in one tap, with duration, blocked apps, and streak in view on the home screen.
- Let the user choose which apps to silence — including search, suggested shields, and per-app toggles so YouTube can go dark without blocking the whole phone.
- Optionally recommend a session length from focus patterns, and explain why that length was picked.
- Ship on both iOS and Android without two unrelated codebases for the product rules.
Challenge
Most focus apps bury the start button under settings. People already know they should concentrate — they need the noisy apps gone and a timer running, without a lecture.
RR Tech's solution
We shipped a production loop: set duration, choose apps, enter Ghost Mode. Kotlin Multiplatform shares the core across iOS and Android. Adaptive Sessions explains why it picked a length. App blocking includes search, suggested shields, and per-app toggles so YouTube can go dark without blocking the whole phone.
Architecture and technology
Published stack: KMP, iOS, Android. Kotlin Multiplatform shares the core across both clients so session rules do not drift.
AI-assisted session lengths are a product feature in the client — Adaptive Sessions explains the pick. This site does not name a model vendor or training pipeline.
App blocking is a first-class surface (search, suggestions, per-app toggles), not a buried permission screen.
No React Native or Flutter claim appears for this product.
The production loop
Enter Ghost Mode
Home shows a focus ring (the published screenshot is a 20-minute session), streak cards, and a full-width Enter Ghost Mode button.
Adaptive sessions
Focus duration with Adaptive Sessions on, recommending 20 minutes from the user’s focus patterns in the published UI. Lengths documented: 20, 35, 50, or 90 minutes.
Apps blocked
List with Google and YouTube on in the published screenshot, plus search and suggested apps to shield. Select-all is listed in the outcomes.
Daily streak
A visible streak so skipping a day is obvious. No retention percentages are published.
How it was built
The published timeline is 4 weeks, and the app is labelled in production. That is outside the typical 1–2 week MVP slice: a complete focus loop rather than a throwaway. Discover/Design/Build/Launch still apply; the documented loop is set duration, choose apps, enter Ghost Mode. We do not publish sprint counts or headcount.
Results
One tap to block distracting apps and start deep work
- Live on iOS and Android — start a session in one tap, with duration, blocked apps, and streak in view
- App blocking with search, select-all, and suggested distractors
- AI-assisted session lengths plus a daily streak so the habit stays visible
Status: in production on iOS and Android. Outcomes are the session loop, blocking tools, AI-assisted lengths, and streak. No download, revenue, or App Store ranking figures are published.
