Cost
How much does it cost to build an MVP? You pay for a slice, not a discount app
Short answer
An MVP costs the scoped slice: enough product to test the core job, with a structure that can grow. RR Tech does not publish an MVP price list. Typical mobile delivery is 1–2 weeks after kickoff. You get a proposal for that slice — scope, timeline, investment — and no surprise change orders on what you already signed. A 10-week production app is a different object, not a “plus-size MVP.”
People ask this hoping the MVP is a cheaper app. Sometimes it is cheaper because you built less. It is not cheaper because the engineers are junior or the architecture is disposable. If the first version cannot take a second feature without a rewrite, you did not save money. You deferred a bill.
What the money is for
On a 1–2 week mobile MVP you are paying for discovery that names the job, UI for the primary loop, a build with QA in the sprints, and a base that can accept the next tab. Homepage language: core feature priority mapping, scale-ready architecture base, typical 1–2 week MVP delivery.
Public MVP-shaped work — time as a size proxy, still not a price
| Product | Weeks | In the slice | Left for later (stated in the write-up) |
|---|---|---|---|
| InspectAI | 2 | Dashboard, New Inspection, due jobs, issue counts | Scheduling and reporting in the same app |
| CraveNow | 2 | Location, search, categories, restaurant cards with offer/ETA | Cart, checkout, tracking — tabs exist so they can land |
| WaitlistAI | 2 | Tonight’s overview, queue, floor metrics, AI wait band | The next hospitality slice (bookings/insights already in the bar) |
Ghost Mode at 4 weeks is in production: a complete focus loop. It is the upper bound of the short mobile band, not a third MVP in the table. Fantasy Cricket Hub at 10 weeks is the production Android contrast. Pricing conversations should start by putting your brief in the correct column. Method: how to build an MVP.
What inflates an “MVP” quote
- Two platforms on day one without a shared-core plan (native vs cross-platform)
- AI as decoration — a chatbot that is not the job
- Maps, payments, and live ops feeds you cannot describe in one sentence (CraveNow lists maps as a capability; we still do not invent a vendor name or a payment integration that is not in the write-up)
- Treating store marketing, brand films, and office networking as part of the same slice (office IT is a separate NZ add-on on this site)
How RR Tech turns a brief into a number
- Free discovery call — 24-hour reply target on new enquiries.
- Proposal: scope, timeline, investment for your stage.
- Build the signed slice. New ideas become a new slice.
A founder checklist before you ask for a quote
If you cannot tick these, you are not ready to price an MVP
- One sentence for the first screen
- One primary platform, or a written reason for two
- A person who will actually use v1 this month
- A definition of “we learned something” that is not vanity metrics we would have to invent
Ready to price a slice, not a fantasy app?
Send the one job. We will propose that slice — or tell you that you are describing a production build and should budget time accordingly.
